Collection: Catholic Books with Imprimaturs
If you've ever seen the terms Nihil Obstat or Imprimatur inside a Catholic book, there is good reason! Nihil Obstat is Latin for “nothing stands in the way," while Imprimatur is Latin for “Let it be printed.” The Imprimatur is typically granted by the diocesan bishop.
The nihil obstat and imprimatur are declarations that the work is considered to be free from doctrinal or moral error. It is not implied that those who have granted the nihil obstat or imprimatur agree with the contents, opinions, or statements expressed therein.
The following books have Imprimaturs.
