Why did RCIA change to OCIA?

OCIA stands for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is the process through which adults (and sometimes older children) prepare to enter the Catholic Church. The change from RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) to OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) was made to better reflect the original Latin title and clarify the nature of the process. The term “Order” highlights that Christian initiation is not just a single rite but a structured, multi-stage journey of conversion and formation.

Let's pray for everyone going through OCIA that they may feel peace and joy in their discernment!
